A "systematic review" of ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 9004:2000 was undertaken during 2005. The systematic review led to a decision that the next version of ISO 9001 will be an amendment, rather than a full-scale revision. Our Technical Committee no. 176, Sub-committee no. 2 (or ISO/TC 176/SC2) has already started projects to develop an amendment to ISO 9001 and a revision to ISO 9004. These projects are at an early stage, and are not expected to achieve publication of new editions of the standards until 2008.
